Yangzhou University is a provincial university in China. It is a pioneer institution of China that evolved into providing higher education. History of this university can be dated back to 1902 which was started as Teachers School of Tongzhou and Agricultural School fo Tonghai. It was merged in the year 1992 and has 6 colleges in different fields of education. The history of MBBS in Yangzhou dates back to 1950. College of Medicine of Yangzhou University was evolved from Subei Health School in the year 1958. In the year 1984, it was renamed as Yangzhou medical college. Along with this medical college, the university also established five colleges. Eventually, the medical college was renamed, College of Medicine of Yangzhou University. School of Medicine of Yangzhou University is the first medical school in China that established the study of gynecology and obstetrics. The school also has successfully and efficiently conducted research and academic exchanges with the University of Montreal, Canada, the medical school of the University of Hong Kong, and other institutions. In the past few years, the employment rates of the students graduated are above 97% and the employers, winning high praise. MBBS program was started in 2005 and two batches of the students have graduated from the school obtaining their diploma and graduate certificate. Each year about 90 international students from India, Africa, Canada and Pakistan etc 16 countries come to study MBBS. In 2011, the MOE formally declared UJS as the qualified university to offer MBBS program in English. UJS is recognized by WHO and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.
